The Curaprox Soother
For a healthy mouth from the start. A good soother does more than soothe, it is an important part of a baby’s early development.
Designed for a growing mouth
The biofunctional design of the Curaprox soother supports the natural functions and movements of a child’s mouth. We developed this soother together with orthodontist Dr. Herbert Pick, based on his clinical experience and understanding of infant oral development. The flat, flexible nipple, designed with dentists, allows:
-
natural tongue movements
-
even pressure distribution
-
balanced muscle activity
This supports healthy development of teeth, jaw, and palate from the beginning.
Safe and carefully made
In September 2025, unintentional traces of BPA were found in some production batches (LOT 006–011). As a precaution and in the interest of maximum product safety, Curaden immediately stopped production, recalled the affected soothers, and refunded all affected customers. Investigation revealed that traces of BPA were present in a raw material from one of our suppliers.
We have learned from this and strengthened quality assurance across the entire supply chain: every Curaprox soother undergoes strict quality control and meets the international EN 1400 soother standard. From material sourcing to production, safety and quality are monitored at every step – for a safe, biofunctional soother that supports healthy oral development.
Frequently asked Questions
Unlike conventional soothers, which remain in the mouth even without active sucking, the Curaprox soother is biofunctional and developed by dentists. Its flat, short, soft nipple works with the baby’s natural mouth functions, promotes active sucking, supports the natural position of the tongue, and enables healthy development of the jaw and palate – instead of just passively filling the mouth.
The Curaprox soother was developed together with orthodontist Dr. Herbert Pick, based on his clinical experience and understanding of infant oral development.
A biofunctional soother can help support the natural position of the tongue as well as swallowing behavior. When used correctly and in the right size, it can reduce the risk of unfavorable development.
The correct size depends more on a baby’s jaw development than age alone. The soother should fit comfortably in the mouth without stretching it or pressing on the palate. Size 0 is suitable from birth and can generally be used as long as needed, depending on the individual development of the baby.
Yes. The Curaprox soother requires active sucking, supporting natural tongue movement similar to breastfeeding, which reduces the risk of nipple confusion.
Before first use, place the soother in boiling water for five minutes. Caution: allow it to cool well before use and squeeze out remaining water – bacteria can grow in droplets. Later, it can be cleaned with mild soap or sterilized in the microwave in the provided box with some water. Always let it dry completely.
Size 0 will be available again in Switzerland from March 2, 2026.
Size 0 is available directly at www.curaprox.ch, as well as in pharmacies, drugstores, major online retailers, and drugstore chains.
To offer our customers a product as quickly as possible, we first focused on size 0. It is suitable from birth and can be used at any age. Sizes 1 and 2, designed as corrective soothers, will follow later in the year.
In some production batches (LOT 006–011), unintentional traces of BPA were found in the plastic shield. As a precaution and for maximum product safety, Curaden immediately stopped production, recalled the affected soothers, and refunded all affected customers. Investigation revealed that traces of BPA were present in a raw material from one of our suppliers. We learned from this and strengthened quality assurance across the supply chain. The soother meets all standards and continues to support healthy oral development.
Independent laboratories measured 19 µg/kg BPA in the plastic shield. The nipple made of medical silicone was completely BPA-free. Compared to various regulations setting limits for BPA – for example, EN 1400, Regulation (EU) 10/2011, or the current EU Toy Directive – our measured value of 19 µg/kg is very low. According to current scientific knowledge, such traces are not considered acutely harmful and are classified as material or environmental contamination. Authorities such as the Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR) consider these low amounts to pose no health risk.
The company investigated the cause and strengthened quality assurance along the entire supply chain. All future soothers (LOT 020 and beyond) will meet strict safety standards, ensure consistent product safety, and continue to support healthy oral development.
