Global Recall of Curaprox Soothers
Independent testing has identified a defect in specific Curaprox soothers. For your child’s safety, we are recalling affected products worldwide, including the UK.

The safety and well-being of your children mean everything to us.
Following a recent test carried out by the Slovenian Consumer Protection Organisation (ZPS), it was indicated that Curaprox soothers may contain traces of BPA – a substance considered potentially harmful to health. Independent laboratory tests commissioned immediately afterwards have confirmed these findings.
The affected part of the Soother is the hard plastic shield element. Nevertheless, we strongly advise you to stop using the pacifier in order to eliminate any possible risk.
Your child’s safety, and the safety of all our customers, is our highest priority. At Curaden, we never compromise on quality or product safety.
As a result, we have taken immediate action: all sales of the product have been stopped, and a global product recall was launched on 17 September 2025.
Consumers will receive a full refund for any affected items. Refunds will be provided either at the original point of sale or, for online purchases, upon presentation of proof of purchase.

We take these results very seriously and have removed the soother from the market. The measured BPA values exceeded the limit legally permitted in the EU, which is why we immediately initiated the recall.
Research institutions have found no evidence of an acute toxic risk, meaning there is no immediate danger from BPA in soothers. The affected part is the shield. The teat, the part made from medical silicone that the baby actually sucks on, is generally not affected. Still, we strongly advise you to not to use the soother to eliminate any possible risk.
Legal limits are set to ensure the lowest possible total exposure. The likelihood of acute harm from short-term use is considered low based on current knowledge. However, the long-term effects of excessive BPA exposure are not yet fully clarified, which is why legislators recommend avoiding it as a precaution.

Nevertheless, we strongly advise you to stop using the soother. For babies, BPA exposure mainly comes from food and drinks in plastic containers and from breast milk, as well as environmental sources like household dust and toys.
BPA (Bisphenol A) is a hormone-like substance that can affect the endocrine system. The exposure from a soother is low and not acutely dangerous, but we strongly recommend discontinuing use to reduce exposure to BPA.
BPA resembles the hormone oestrogen and can influence the hormonal system, especially during sensitive phases of development. It can bind to hormone receptors and disrupt natural processes, which is why it is considered undesirable and risky for small children.
No, Curaden was surprised by the findings. We conduct regular quality controls. During our latest sample analysis, we identified this irregularity. As soon as results were available, we imposed a sales stop, blocked all stock, and initiated the recall. We aim to be fully transparent and take immediate action.
Curaden regularly tests its products. This irregularity was identified in our most recent sampling. As soon as results were available, we immediately initiated the recall.
We are strengthening our testing and quality assurance processes, improving internal workflows, and working with authorities, independent laboratories, and a scientific advisory board.
The test is reliable and standardized, and we do not doubt the results. This is why we immediately reacted and initiated the recall worldwide.
We have informed the relevant authorities and this recall happens in close coordination with the authorities.
Numerous global studies have investigated BPA. Their results are inconsistent and have led to a controversial public debate, especially among parents. To minimise potential risks, the European Commission banned BPA in the production of baby bottles in March 2011, and since June 2011, their sale has been prohibited within the EU.
In January 2025, a new EU regulation came into force, which significantly tightens restrictions on BPA in all food contact materials and baby products such as soothers and teats. The aim is to ensure that BPA is no longer detectable above strict safety limits.
We understand your disappointment and sincerely apologise for this situation. We know that trust is earned, and we regret that this incident may have shaken your confidence in us.
The safety of children and our customers is – and will always remain – our top priority. That is why we have immediately stopped all sales of the affected products and launched a full global recall.
We are committed to acting openly and transparently, and we are reviewing every part of our production and testing processes to ensure this cannot happen again.
